Getting the Crockett & Jones Camberley shoes

Once more I visit the luxurious Crockett & Jones boutique in Jermyn Street, London. This time I'm here for the black double monk strap Camberley boot, Bond's shoe of choice with his mafia style outfit in the Rome scenes in SPECTRE.

Northampton based Crockett & Jones, makers of fine shoes since 1879, is the most current Bond shoe option for fans, with a great selection of models and styles worn by Bond in SkyFall and SPECTRE to choose from. In SkyFall, Bond wears the brown leather Islay brogue boots (outdoor Scotland scenes), the sleek Tetbury boot (Turkey and Shanghai), and the more conservative Alex Oxford model (Macau casino scene) and Highbury, worn with Tom Ford suits.

In SPECTRE Bond again wears the Alex (with his white Tom Ford tuxedo jacket), the Norwich derby in Mexico, Radnor boots in Austria and the double monk strap Camberley boots in Rome.

James Bond Crockett & Jones Camberley

Daniel Craig in Rome during the filming of SPECTRE

While driving the Aston Martin DB10, attending the SPECTRE meeting and meeting Lucia in Rome, James Bond wears a three-piece Tom Ford Windsor suit, white Tom Ford shirt with black tie and collar pin, Tom Ford Snowdon sunglasses, Omega Seamaster 300 watch, Dents Leather Driving Gloves, and black leather Crockett & Jones Camberley boots. Some fans found this outfit too flashy for Bond, but personally I quite like the outfit.

To get myself a pair of Camberleys, I go to Crockett & Jones flagship boutique on Jermyn Street in London, where I'm greeted by ever-friendly Huqstable, who also helped me with my Crockett & Jones Tetbury boots in 2014 and my Crockett & Jones Alex in 2015.

In 2014, I got my first pair of Crockett & Jones shoes, the Tetbury model but in brown (Bond wears black Tetbury in SkyFall). Read the full report of the shopping experience here.

In 2015, for the World Premiere of SPECTRE, I got myself the stylish Alex Oxford model with leather sole to go with my black tuxedo. Bond wears the Alex with the midnight blue Tom Ford tuxedo in SkyFall and with his white Tom Ford tuxedo in SPECTRE. During filming, Daniel Craig wore the Alex with rubber soles for more grip in action scenes, but for ultimate style the beautiful leather sole is a must.

Now the Camberley. When SPECTRE was made, this was a brand new style for Crockett & Jones, introduced in Autumn/Winter 2014. The double buckle monk boot is a unique design now often copied, and it has become one of the most popular Bond models from Crockett & Jones.

Crockett & Jones Camberley Black

The Camberley comes in Black Calf, Brown leather or Brown Suede. I got my Tetbury boots in Brown Antique Nubuck Leather, but for the Camberley I'm going for Black Calf, as worn by Bond.

The fit of the Camberely is similar to the Tetbury (Crockett's 348 last and E fitting), but while I have the Tetbury in size 10.5, after trying the Camberely I decide to take size 10 for that model.

The boots feel very soft inside and the two straps and buckles provide a good way to really strap the boots on properly. There are three holes in the strap, so you should be able to create a good fit.

The inside of the shoe is marked with the well-earned 'Made In England' label. Read Bond Lifestyle's Made In Britain article about Crockett & Jones for more details on the production process.

Like all Crockett & Jones shoes, the Camberely comes with green shoe bags, and a green box with gold logo.

Gucci Horsebit Loafer Brown Suede

Bond villain Dominic Greene (played by Mathieu Amalric) wears a pair of Gucci Horsebit Loafer Shoes in the 2008 movie Quantum of Solace.

A loafer, or slipper, is a laceless slip-on shoe. The loafer shoes in the film are brown suede with probably gold coloured horsebit buckle.

The horsebit (or "snaffle-bit") detail on the loafers is inspired by the time, just after WWI, that orginal Gucci founder Guccio Gucci worked in London's famous Savoy hotel. There he overheard the conversations of the English aristocracy about horse racing and polo. Mr Gucci quickly understood how much the world of horses meant to this privileged group of men and women, and later he made equestrian imagery a feature of the brand he wanted to set up.

Guccio's son Aldo Gucci launched the Gucci Loafer in 1953 and the horsebit was added in 1966. The Gucci Loafer became a favorite of the jet set, politicians, movie stars and celebrities.

In movies the horsebit loafers are often worn, for example by Dustin Hoffman in Kramer vs. Kramer (1979), Matt Dillon in Drugstore Cowboy (1988), Matt Damon in The Talented Mr Ripley (1999), Brad Pitt in Fight Club (1999), Michael Sheen in Frost/Nixon (2008), Shia LaBeouf in Wall Street 2 (2010), Leonardo Di Caprio in Wolf of Wall Street (2013). The design is part of the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Read more of the history of the Gucci Loafer on MrPorter.com.

Gucci in Bond films
In On Her Majesty's Secret Service, James Bond (George Lazenby) packs a Gucci leather suitcase. In The Man With The Golden Gun, Gucci suitcase, shoulder bag and a Gucci belt can be spotted.

Another Bond link: creative director Tom Ford helped the Gucci brand to regain its old glory in the 1990 before launching his own Tom Ford brand, which has been supplying Bond with his sunglasses, cufflinks, shirts, coats and suits in Quantum of Solace, SkyFall and SPECTRE.

During filming of certain scenes, Craig used black anti-slip grips or ice cleats with steel spikes (the rubber with yellow circles and metal spikes) although those are not seen in the final film.

Villain Raoul Silva, played by Javier Bardem, wears Jeffery-West Marriott Brogue Cricket Chelsea Boots in the movie SkyFall (2012).

At an exhibition of SkyFall and SPECTRE costumes by Jany Temime in Utrecht, The Netherlands in September 2015, the boots were part of the display with Silva's costume, which led to the identification of the brand and model.

The boots are based on the 'Marriott' last, made of leather, lined in red with full leather English insole. The 'Marriott' last is named after Steve Marriott from the Small Faces, a 1960s English rock band from East London.

The Crickett Chelsea boot is currently not produced but it is being reintroduced in Mahogany in the Jeffery-West AW16 season, and can be made to order if requested. Or you can find a few pairs in brown or black on eBay.

With the boots, Silva wears a cream and brown three-piece suit from costume designer Jany Temime made by London tailor Thom Sweeney.

Can you tell us about the history of Crockett & Jones?
Crockett & Jones was founded in 1879, in Northampton, by Charles Jones and his brother-in-law, James Crockett.

Northampton had always been renowned for shoe making in England since the middle ages; starting as a centre for tanning. The abundance of local oak forests provided the oak bark, which was considered the best tanning material at the time and the River Nene was the source of water for this process. The central location of Northampton, en-route to London, gave the town good communications and enabled the tanners to obtain hides from the butchers with ease. After this it wasn’t long before shoe makers naturally gathered where leather was readily available, working out of their homes and in small workshops. By the time that Crockett & Jones was established, shoe makers had begun to join together to open small factories using new machinery that had been developed specifically for the shoe industry during the Industrial Revolution.

The first Crockett & Jones factory in 1879 was a small building in Carey Street, Northampton with 20 employees. The business was successful and expanded rapidly. In the 1890’s the 2nd generation (Harry Crockett and Frank Jones) began to integrate new machinery, which was invented by Charles Goodyear from the USA for stitching the uppers, welts and soles together. This made the process much easier, and faster, and gave rise to the name for the superior construction process that we continue to use today, called ‘Goodyear Welted’.

crockett jones factory

Crockett & Jones factory in Northampton

Towards the turn of the century James Crockett and Charles Jones recognised the need to find a larger factory for continued expansion of the business. In 1897 they bought a new factory in Perry Street, which Crockett & Jones still occupy today.

Around this time most of the shoes were sold in the home market but the company was also exporting a significant volume through-out the world to: Australia, Argentina, Europe, New Zealand, South Africa, USA and the Far East.

Clicking in the factory

In 1911 Percy Jones, the brother of Frank Jones, joined the company – this was to be the start of a long serving, 67 year partnership in the business. In 1914 Crockett & Jones footwear was used for the 2nd time on a Shackleton Polar expedition thus emphasising the excellent quality of the shoes and their construction.

In 1924 Crockett & Jones was honoured with Royal Patronage; a visit to the factory in Perry Street by H.R.H The Duke of York (later King George VI) who paid great attention to the shoe making process on his tour around the factory. This visit sparked much national press interest and people crowded the streets to get a glimpse of The Duke.

crockett jones welting

In 1927 Gilbert Jones, the son of Frank Jones, started at Crockett & Jones becoming the 3rd generation of the Jones family involved in running the business. By this stage the company employed over 1000 people and production had reached record levels of 15,000 pairs per week; the majority of which were women’s shoes and boots.

During the 2nd World War Crockett & Jones manufactured over a 1 million pairs for the armed forces. They were under instructions from the government to switch the majority of the production to military footwear; making officers’ shoes and boots for the army, navy and air force. To produce this volume many retired men and married women came back to work to join in the war effort.

crockett jones store

Showroom

After the war in 1947 Richard Jones, son of Percy Jones and grandson of founder Charles Jones, joined the business. Today Richard is still involved as Chairman and imparts his vast knowledge of shoe making to everyone.

Jonathan Jones, son of Richard Jones, joined the company in 1977, the same year that Richard was appointed Managing Director. At this time, a decision was taken to re-focus the business. From now onwards they would concentrate on producing men’s high quality Goodyear Welted footwear and developing export sales in Europe, USA and Japan.

As the business began to build again over the next 15 years, exports reached 70% of the overall production and in 1990 Crockett & Jones was awarded the coveted Queens Award for Export Achievement. Crockett & Jones continued to supply some of the world’s best known “own label” collections but now as Managing Director, Jonathan also wanted to increase the ‘Crockett & Jones’ branded distribution. As part of this strategy it was decided to re-visit the company’s long standing interest in retail. In 1997 Crockett & Jones opened their 1st retail shop in Jermyn Street, London. Over the next 14 years another 10 retail shops and concessions were opened by Crockett & Jones across London, Birmingham, New York, Paris and Brussels.

In 2004 the factory in Perry Street was designated as a Grade II listed building, in order to preserve the history of the shoe trade in Northampton. The building has, in fact, changed very little since the 1930’s. In 2005 Nicholas Jones, Jonathan’s brother, joined the company as Production Director and Jonathan, as Managing Director, concentrates on strategy, sales and development. In 2006 Philippa Jones, Jonathan’s daughter, started in the family business as the 5th generation of the Jones family.

The fact that the business remains in the hands of the family who started it, ensures that the standards of the past are maintained today and lends a more personal touch to the fine shoes that they produce.

What does Made in Britain mean in the case of Crockett & Jones?
Made in England means everything to Crockett & Jones and rather a lot to many of our customers. Much of the shoe trade has gradually either been moved abroad and the product cheapened, or been so heavily affected by factories abroad that the brands no longer exist in England.

In the 1950’s there were roughly 50 shoe factories in Northampton Town making it a great industry, today there are just five. Of the five remaining, two are owned by luxury groups. We are now the only family owned and managed Goodyear Welted shoe factory in England.

crockett jones clicking

Making Crockett & Jones shoes. Step 1. Clicking

Are Crockett & Jones shoes completely made in Britain?
Absolutely, all of our Goodyear welted shoes are 100% made in our factory in Northampton, England.

crockett jones closing

Step 2. Closing

What is happening exactly inside the facility?
Our factory in Northampton houses our head office (and worldwide) operations where all Directors of the business tirelessly continue their work to ensure Crockett & Jones remains on the steady path that we find ourselves on today. For the most part, Crockett & Jones is a manufacturer, and our Northampton factory (in England) is where the magic really happens. I often describe it as Charlies’ Chocolate factory for shoes! It comprises of eight departments in total: Pattern Cutting, Clicking, Closing, Preparation, Lasting, Making, Finishing and Shoe Room. I won’t take you through each one but if you are interested in finding out more about the working of a Goodyear welted shoe factory, and the level of skill that goes into each shoe, I recommend taking a few minutes to watch our In the Making video on our website.

crockett jones preparation

Step 3. Preparation

How many people are working at Crockett & Jones?
We currently have about 300 staff in the factory, with another 100 or so across our retail, office and management staff. It is a busy environment to work in, and we seem to be growing each year. A rare success story in our trade that we are working very hard to continue.

crockett jones lasting

Step 4. Lasting

When were the following models (worn by Bond) first introduced: Alex, Tetbury, Highbury, Islay, Camberley, Norwich, Radnor
All of the styles that were chosen to feature in the James Bond films were existing styles, outlining the strength and depth of our current range. The newest style was Camberley and given that it is a Monk strap version of our famous Tetbury, we were not surprised to see them choose this style.

crockett jones making shoe

Step 5. Making the shoe

The only style that we had to pull from our wholesale collection was Radnor, a Goodyear welted version of Snowdon (Veldtschoen construction). They wanted a Snowdon type boot, but given the demand from the previous film, there was no way we would have been able to produce the volume of Veldtschoen contructed boots (a complicated process), so they were happy to take the very sturdy Goodyear welted version instead - Radnor.

crockett jones finishing

crockett jones finishing 1

Step 6. Finishing

What makes the Crockett & Jones shoes stand out from its competition?
We do not have too many competitors around our price point. Given the volume of shoes (size of factory) that we are able to produce, we offer a very fairly priced product given the materials that we use to produce them (European Calf on the whole). Our Managing Director is extremely focused on this (offering value for money), and is defiant about continuing to use European Calf in the making of our shoes. To buy a pair of shoes at the quality of Crockett & Jones from another maker, you may need to pay £300 - £400 more.

Ultimately, if you have highly skilled craftsmen and women and you use the highest quality materials available, the rest come down to experience of design, style and finally taste.

crockett jones shoe room 1

Step 7. Shoe Room

What are some of the advantages of producing in the UK?
Experienced, knowledgeable and highly skilled staff, but the ‘Made in England’ carries with it an incredible amount of respect.

crockett jones shoe room 2

Step 7. Shoe Room

What are some of the challenges of producing in the UK?
Business rates, factory running costs and availability of the skilled staff I mentioned above. As our industry has reduced, the number of skilled suppliers and skilled staff has also reduced.

What is your favourite Bond film?
Casino Royale. It is the epitome of everything I have grown up to love about James Bond.

Who is your favourite James Bond actor?
Daniel Craig. He has good taste in shoes!

Gucci Horsebit Loafer Brown Suede

$

On 4 October 2019, a day before Global James Bond Day, I visited the London flagship store of fashion brand Drake's, to pick up a pair of Crosby Moc-Toe Chukka Boots.

I'll have to start this article with a small spoiler warning as there might be a few (but not major) references to the upcoming James Bond film No Time To Die, and an affiliate disclosure that this page contains affiliate links, which means that if you buy something via one of the links or banners, I might receive a small commission, but the price is the same for you and it helps support the Bond Lifestyle website.

Drake's is a high fashion brand, founded in East London in 1977 by Michael Drake and currently under the creative helm of Michael Hill. The company gets its soft tailoring in Italy, exquisite knitwear in Scotland, and shirts in the brand's very own shirt factory in Chard, Somerset.

Currently Drake's has two stores in London as well as international stores in Paris, Seoul, Ginza and New York. The shoes and other pieces of the collection are also sold via a large network of stockists all around the world and are of course available online on drakes.com/usa (US/Canada) and drakes.com (UK).

The Drake's store that I visited was located on 3 Clifford Street in Mayfair. If you plan to visit it's good to note that the store will move at the end of October to a new location, at 9 Savile Row - the street famous for traditional bespoke tailoring for men, the headquarters of the Royal Geographical Society at 1 Savile Row and the Apple office of the Beatles at 3 Savile Row, where the band's final live performance was held on the roof of the building.

In the store my attention is quickly guided to the Crosby Moc-Toe Chukka boots on display. This is the shoe that will be worn by Daniel Craig as James Bond in the upcoming James Bond film No Time To Die.

It's time for another warning/disclaimer because although the appearance of the Drake's shoes in No Time To Die is very likely, given the many moment the shoes are worn by Craig on the set in Matera, Italy, nothing can be guaranteed until we see a trailer or the final film in April 2020.

In September 2019, principal cast members of the film Daniel Craig and Léa Seydoux were in the Italian town of Matera to film scenes that include them arriving in the Aston Martin DB5, walking around and an intense car chase scene. I won't go into more details than this, but on social media hundreds of photos and videos have been posted by tourists and paparazzi that saw the action happening in the beautiful town.

The shoes worn by James Bond (Daniel Craig) on the No Time To Die set in Matera

During all these scenes, James Bond (both Craig and his stunt double) is wearing a pair of suede chukka boots, with a distinctive mocassin toe. The shoes were quickly identified as Drake's Moc-Toe Chukka boots in suede. But the photos from the set seemed to sometimes make the shoes look light and sometimes darker, causing some uncertainty about the exact colour: either the (Dark) Brown Suede or the lighter Tobacco Suede version. After a few more photos, it became clear that it must be the Dark Brown Suede. Some people still prefer the lighter Tobacco Suede, and if you're considering buying the shoes, you should get the ones that you prefer as both colours are very nice for this shoe. It must be noted that there is also an even lighter Whiskey brown, but that one is more yellowish and not close to the movie version colour.

Time to get up close and personal with a pair. It depends on the brand of course, but I usually take a size 10 or 10.5, and 10.5 is what was brought out for me. Opening the brown shoebox with small Drake's logo, and wrapped inside a brown paper, the brown Chukka Boots were waiting patiently for a try.

Drake's Crosby Moc-Toe close up

photo © Bond Lifestyle

Opening the laces a bit and with a little help of a shoe horn, the chukka boots slip on quite easily and seem to fit perfectly. The first thing to notice is that the top of your toes might touch the top of the moccasin toe, as the shape of the tip of the shoe is almost horizontal and low. This is normal and will after some time stretch out just a bit. If your toe hits the front of the shoe (not the top) then they're too small.

The 10.5 size fits perfectly, so for me at least, the Crosby fits almost true to size, although I would recommend sizing upwards 0.5 to be sure (0.5 size bigger than Crocket & Jones in my case and other people have reported a similar size upgrade).

Drake s Crosby Moc-Toe top view

The shoes are very comfortable from the first step.

The inside is smooth with a leather insole with embossed Drake's logo.

Drakes Crosby Moc-Toe

I like the Chukka boot shape and the Chukka style has been worn by Daniel Craig in all his films, from the Church's Ryder III, Crockett & Jones Tetbury to the Sanders & Sanders Hi Top. These Drake's Chukkas have a more distinct look, which you may or may not like, but they're definitely a different style addition to a Bond Chukka collection.

The Drake's Crosby Chukka boots have a very flexible and therefor comfortable, dark coloured crepe sole. Quite rough crepe as well, making it a good action shoe for Bond, but note that crepe wears more than a leather or rubber sole under heavy (outdoor) use and can't be replaced like a leather or rubber sole. The softness does give a good grip during a high speed chase and you can also sneak around a villain's lair without making too much sound as crepe soles are very quiet.

Overall I do like these shoes for their unique look (with the Mocassin toe) and comfort, and look forward to wearing these. As the Drake's website mentions they can be easily worn with jeans, but also with 'soft tailoring', including the light colour Massimo Alba Sloop Suit that James Bond wears with the shoes in the film.

After wrapping the shoes back into the box, it's time to thank the helpful and kind people of Drake's and step back into the bustling streets of London, speeding towards the Royal Albert Hall where I will experience the SkyFall screening with live orchestra.

When you are interested in getting a pair of these Drake's Crosby Chukka boots yourself, you can visit one of the shops in London, Paris, New York, Seoul or Ginza or one of the stockists in your country, where you can try on the shoes to find the right size or decide on your favourite colour.

If you are unable to visit one of the Drake's shops or stockists, you can also order them online at Drake's USA/Canada ($395) or Drake's UK/EU (£275).

In No Time To Die (2020), James Bond wears a pair of brown leather Sperry boat shoes as part of his Jamaica outfit.

The exact model is the Sperry Gold Cup Authentic Original Rivingston Boat Shoe in the color Tan. Appropriate footwear for Bond, who has a Spirit Yacht sailboat in Jamaica when he's not working. The shoes can be spotted when James Bond is driving to Porto Antonio in Jamaica to meet with his CIA colleague and friend Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright).

American company Sperry is famous for boat shoes and there are many similar models. The brown Sperry Gold Cup Authentic Original Rivingston Boat Shoe can still be found at some stores online or in many large department and shoes stores in the US.

Some sizes are still available online on Amazon.com or Dillards.

Metallic Leather Ankle Tie High-Heel Sandals

Paloma (played by Ana de Armas) wears silver color leather ankle tie high-heel sandals with her blue dress in No Time To Die (2020).

The silver stiletto shoes can be spotted in a photoshoot by Greg Williams for the Chopard jewellery (the necklace, earrings and bracelet worn by Ana de Armas in the film) and in a promotional still from No Time To Die.

The shoes have a silver, chrome or metallic color, high heels, open toe, a single band over the front of the foot, a longer tie at the ankle and a triangle shape support behind the heel.

A close match, or possibly exact match, are the Kenneth Cole Berry Metallic Leather Ankle Tie High-Heel Sandals, but it's not confirmed that this is the same model as in the film. But if it isn't, the Kenneth Cole Berry high heels are a great alternative as they are virtually the same as the ones worn in the shoot. One of the main differences with the movie shoes, based on the photos we have, seems to be that the Kenneth Cole are matte silver/soft gold with some gold details, while the movie shoes seem to be very shiny/glossy silver, like chrome. But that might be an effect of the lighting. Also the toe strap of the Kenneth Cole shoes seems slightly wider than the strap on the movie shoes, but again, it's hard to tell based on these images.

The Kenneth Cole Berry in soft gold is available at Amazon or this one on Amazon (more sizes available), eBay and some other online outlets.

If you find another pair that is more similar, please send a message.

Complete the look
The rest of the outfit worn by Ana de Armas is a blue silk-satin Michael Lo Sordo dress and a diamond necklace, bracelet and earrings from the Chopard Green Carpet Collection.

In all the promotional stills and trailer, this is the only outfit we have seen for Ana de Armas in the film.

White Canvas Espadrilles Wedge Sandals

Madeleine Swann (played by Léa Seydoux) wears a pair of white Canvas Espadrilles Wedge Sandals with her red dress in No Time To Die (2020).

The appearance of these shoes is not yet 100% confirmed as Léa Seydoux wore several pairs of shoes on set, but the most likely to be the pair in the film are these espadrilles.

Swann wears the sandals in the town of Matera, when she has a romantic stroll hrough the Italian town with James Bond (see his Matera Romantic Outfit here).

The brand of the shoes is not yet identified, but the Espadrille Wedge Sandals have white closed toes with a v-shape (seen from above), a signle white leather ankle strap with metal buckle, a heel support with small opening.

There are several similar shoes (pictured on the left) like the Me Too Brenna Espadrille Wedge Sandal (but that one seems not to be available in white), Viscata Estartit 3" Wedge, Soft Canvas, Ankle-Strap, Closed Toe, Espadrilles Heel (several differences), White Mountain Cisco Wedge Espadrille (several differences).

If you know the brand and model of the shoes in the film, please send a message!

Crockett & Jones release James 007 Limited Edition shoe to celebrate No Time To Die

Crockett & Jones have revealed the styles that will appear in No Time To Die, and a 007 Limited Edition shoe, the 'James'.

James Bond is not only the world’s most famous secret agent, he is also the world’s best dressed. Before 007, the archetypal secret agent was draped in a long coat, eyes hidden beneath a wide-brimmed hat. James Bond changed all that.

Bond’s wardrobe is an integral part of his character, and it is the tuxedo that stands as his most celebrated look.

“The tuxedo is the most iconic of the James Bond wardrobe looks,” says No Time To Die’s costume designer, Suttirat Anne Larlarb, “and the finishing touch to the tuxedo is, of course, the right pair of shoes. A shoe will finish off any look and make it perfect from a visual standpoint.”

When Bond walks into a room he has to be immaculate and sharp, but also subtle. Elegant, yet understated.

SkyFall was the first movie in which James Bond wore Crockett & Jones shoes: the Crockett & Jones Alex with his tuxedo, the Tetbury in Turkey, the Highbury in many other (London) scenes and the Islay in the Scotland action scenes.

In SPECTRE he also wore the Alex with his tuxedo, the Norwich in Mexico and the Camberley in Rome.

Introducing the James

To celebrate this partnership and the new movie No Time To Die, Crockett & Jones are proud to announce the 007 Limited Edition James model.

Crockett & Jones 'James' 007 Limited Edition, set against a wheel of an Aston Martin DB5

James pays homage to Crockett & Jones’s world-renowned wholecut Oxford (the Alex model featured in both SkyFall and SPECTRE), but Crockett & Jones have embellished the shoe’s every specification by applying its highest grade of shoemaking.

Crockett & Jones 'James' 007 Limited Edition

The James is made from the finest box calf and featuring a signature Hand Grade leather sole. The shoe is crafted from the smallest skins with the tightest break, all sourced from the finest European tanneries.

The black box calf perfectly highlights the contours of Last 348, a classic, chiselled form and arguably the most innovative last from a generation of shoemakers.

Fully leather lined, James features an all-black interior with silver foiled logo.

The James shoe is presented in exclusive 007 packaging with a chrome shoe horn, shoe brush and a pair of fully lasted, hand-made shoe trees, all embossed with the iconic 007 logo.

The James will be available on 9th October 2020 and has a retail price of £850.00 / $1,195.00.

According to Crockett & Jones, the James shoe will not be seen in the movie No Time To Die, but two other models WILL be worn by Bond.

Crockett & Jones in No Time To Die

Working closely with the 007 film makers Crockett & Jones supplied two styles to the production, the Highbury and the Molton.

Crockett Jones Highbury Molton

The Crockett & Jones Highbury (left) and the Molton wil be seen in No Time To Die

“Bond is known for his perfectly elegant comportment in all situations and in No Time To Die, Crockett & Jones’s shoes are very much a part of that equation.” continues Larlarb. The multi-award-winning costume designer notes that Crockett & Jones’s premiere lasts provided an impeccable platform from which to work.

“What separates a good custom make from a perfect one is a question of having the time to achieve that perfection,” she explains, “and we were steps ahead with Crockett & Jones’s already perfect lasts. They were able to provide for us exactly what we needed and without a hitch.”

“Working with Crockett & Jones to achieve the custom shoes we required for No Time To Die was an absolute pleasure from start to finish.”

Crockett & Jones Highbury

James Bond wears the timeless Crockett & Jones Highbury in a number of key scenes during No Time To Die.

The shoes are for example seen in London, during a meeting with M.

The Crockett & Jones Highbury in black calf is a plain-fronted three-eyelet Derby shoe made from the finest calf leather, featuring Crockett & Jones’s City rubber sole.

In SkyFall, Bond wore the same shoe but with a thicker Dainite sole.

The Derby is perhaps the most versatile of all shoe styles and bridges the gap between smart and smart-casual wear. James Bond wears the timeless Highbury in a number of key scenes during No Time To Die, mostly in the London scenes, but it also looks like he will wear these with his Tom Ford Tuxedo.

The Highbury in black calf is available now at a retail price of £445.00.

The Molton seen in the flm is a plain-fronted three-eyelet chukka boot made from robust and age-defying rough-out suede with Dainite rubber soles. It’s said that the chukka boot has both a sporting and a British military heritage dating back over a century and it proves the perfect choice in No Time To Die when Bond travels to Norway, giving Molton rough-out suede the tough workout for which it is made.

The Dainite rubber sole can be seen clearly here, and the same style sole was also worn by Bond in SkyFall and SPECTRE.
